Writer’s block is a state in which you can’t think of anything to write, you are unable to put words into sentence. This is something that happens to writers .
Writer’s block can take weeks, months and even years to overcome, it is a condition writers don’t like to find themselves in.
This state happens to most writers if not all, but I will be using myself as a case study.
I have been writing for a long time, but at a point, I couldn’t pen anything down. I find myself staring at my journal or screen, not a thought comes to mind on what to write, at a point I felt maybe I wasn’t cut out to be a writer, for five years I didn’t write anything down.
I came across the word writer’s block and I realise my state of mind led me to having writer’s block, I had been sick, in and out of hospital, suffered depression and so much more, writing which use to be a passion for me, became a burden and I couldn’t think of what to write, until five years later, when a friend of mine who came to visit found one of my journals, she read it and found it interesting, she encouraged me to continue writing and even start a blog, taking things one day at a time, I guess it was that encouragement I needed that helped me start writing again, I began a journey of self discovery, I was able to find my passion again, which is writing.
Writer’s block can be as a result of:
(1) Creative problems in which the writer has a feeling of fear or a sense of failure.
(2) Situations of life like physical illness, depression, financial setbacks, e.t.c
You have to believe you can do anything you set your mind to, take it one day at a time and you will be surprised the thoughts of things to write will flow.
